Looks like I can get some Michelin Pilot Sport Cups for £75 inc VAT a corner for my beastie although not in the ideal tyre size (should run 205/45/16 but these are 225/50/16 so 7% oversize). They seem quite well liked though.

Just want some opinions...

Good price?
Good tyre (trackdays only)?
Whats the wear like on these for trackdays?
Oversize a problem?
Go for it or not, what do you guys reckon?

As I mentioned on the other thread I haven't used these but I think this tyre is standard kit on the M3 CSL, so a trip to the Bimmer forums might get a some feedback if you have no luck here. That's assuming they will talk to peasants like us - better mention you have one of those German cars with no indicator stalks

I had a set for track use on my evo6 about 3 years ago, and they cost a lot... about double what you say can get them for now.

they were not as grippy or hardwearing as D01J's but as they have more tread pattern (but not tread depth) were better in the wet.

there was more wear at the outer edge of the tread.

I saw a comparison somewhere between the top track day tyres and the Pilot cups came out with the best lap times although they were lacking in other areas (wet and wear).
Anyway they are too large a diameter for my 'grale so if anyone else can use them, especially at £75 a corner, they are here:
