Hi All http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

The time has come for me to upgrade the exhaust on my EVO V and at the moment am in favour of the full Magnex system as it seems competitively priced.

Could those of you who have had this system fitted please give me your opinions and comments as to its fit/performance/sound etc. I would also like to hear from those who replied to the Another Magnex Fan topic as the postings there have gone and I would like to hear what you had to say.

Regards,
Brian [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

Hi Spanpody,

I Have a full Magnex system on my E4 with the de-cat pipe as well.
At first it seemed quite rorte', but after a few hundred miles on it, it roars
like a dragon!, with the flames as wellhttp://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >, It is louder than a HKS Dragger system!!
It is a good system with a life-time garantee, and if you like attracting attention as you
drive down the street, this is the best cost effective one for you.
As for performance!, it definately gives my car more top end urge and the de-cat pipe
gives the most gain, bit I already had a de-cat pipe B4 the magnex, but you will definately
notice an improvement with the magnex system. I recommend it!![img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >[img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

Spandpody,

I've fitted the Magnex system and cat replacement to my TME and am very pleased with it. The system seems very well made and went on very easily. The only slight problem with fitting I found was the clamps supplied to join the sections of the exhaust are very difficult to tighten enough to keep the system secure (so either replace or have a lot of patience!) Other than that, very easy to fit.

The exhaust note is good and the car is more pleasant to drive now. The performance gain I would say is on a par with the HKS Hyper Muffler which I fitted to my previous 5. Obviously though the Magnex is much better value.

The tail pipe size of the Magnex is the same as the standard Mak exhaust (4 ) so doesn't look too outrageous.

IMHO with the Jap exhausts you are paying a big premium for shipping to the UK and little else.

Great fit http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >, great performance [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle > and great sound [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

Go on, you know you want one!

Agree with Daryl - I'd add that it's not obtrusive when you're on contant throttle, but gives a nice 'yowl' at full tilt. I've just done 650 miles over the weekend (mainly motorway/dual) and it's fine for long drives as far as I'm concerned.

Good power gains also - had the car on the rolling road just before and just after and got 25bhp extra.

Go for it.

Steve.

I agree.
I have gone for the Magnex system twice and if I was to buy another exhaust system, I would go for the Magnex again, it really is that good, especially for the price.

Speak to Alan at Dragon Autosport. These guys have fitted this system countless times so are quite experienced with it.

Cheers,

Cem

Why magnex and not a mongoose system the price is equal explain and what about a supersprint system or a hayward and scott

my opinion is if you have good exhaust system and you keep speed on 100 miles you don t wanna have a loud dark sound into the cabin has the magnex system a loud noise into the cabin

regards

I saw a Magnex on an Evo, the sound is nice, the price as well, but I don't think it looks very nice. Now whether you want to pay a lot more for the extra looks is a different question...

The Mongoose didn't fit the VI properly, although I think it's OK on the IV and V. That's why I got the Magnex at the time, perhaps Mongoose have modified it since?

Yep Jan,

I was talking about your exhaust system. http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

Did you try upping the boost? [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle > If not, do it! I recommend it! Claudius,

No increased boost yet, I've been too busy (work wise). However I met a rally-guy who's been prepping EVO's for the last 2 years in Group A with 470HP/550Nm. He's extremely busy the next month but I managed to get an appointment with him beginning of august to put some prices on paper. He recons' delivering around 400HP/550Nm reliably is not a problem. I don't know all the details yet (august I will) and depending if I want over 400 or not will increase/decrease the price as another turbo is recommended. Since I'm getting another car for my day-to-day stuff I do not really mind having a TME that is 'not that' reliable anymore and go for the 450-470 upgrade. What I know now is that the more reliable option, just below 400 will cost me around 5000 Euros: Motec-similar product (forgot name) and changing some weak engine internals and of course paying the manual labor setting up the car.
With that in mind I have to sell my Ralliart Sports ECU and can't be bothered buying a boost controller.
So, hopefully mid august I have my upgraded beast http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/Wilk.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| middle >.
Did you find any reliable tuner yet?
Take care,

Jan.
