Good to see you at the harewood event on Saturday . Hope this whole saga comes good again for you . The human race can be a very unreasonable bunch with out mentioning any names just now but take it from me I know exactly where your coming from .
Stephen
Do you dislike Norris Designs also? It is proving a hard job to find a mapper that at least a handful of people say is no good

And good to meet you too Stephen. Sorry I didn't get to stay too long, there were quite a few competitors I haven't seen for a while in the paddock so I got sidetracked. Did you get on better once you changed to the other rubber? What times were you doing? Was a lovely day :)

No I don't dislike Norris at all. He has every right to react the way he feels is in the best interests of his business and I'm not holding that against him. He's good at what he does and I wouldn't let personal feelings mix with business.

Hope you got to Doune ok and got to drink your cold beers ..
I did thanks - lots of it too . The weather wasn't as good as Harewood but at least it stayed dry. Steve humped his class record with a PB 1.3s quicker into the 39's and Les Mutch smashed Lee Adams' record in the Raptor (which is Lee's old car, and the first Raptor built). Les got into the 37's

That's my cylinder head back so it's just a case of building the engine. There's a sprint at Boyndie this weekend which would be great for shakedown but it's unlikely i'll have the car ready in time

I'll update the thread as and when :smthumbup

Stephen & Simon do not get on so my advice would be do your own research rather than taking advice off anyone who may have an axe to grind :)

Then go to Simon . I have already said I am sure his mapping is fine . It's personal preference really .
It really is quite childish reading back over the last few pages. Some of you guys dropping hints then backing up on those statements. It really does not help the rest of us at all and is pointless. If you have things to say then either get them out or hold your tongue

I did say it would be best to start your own thread on the subject rather than go O/T on my build thread. Thanks

My interpretation would be that if a professional wished to retain the rights to a piece of paid work (be it an engine map or otherwise) then a disclaimer stating the fact should be agreed and signed before commencement of the work surely.
If money has changed hands for a service then one would expect that the person paying the money would become the rightful owner of what he has paid for?

I had a car mapped on ecutek and asked about the map access. They are coded to the master tuners key so nobody but that tuner with his key can access it. Are people saying that having an ecutek map means you should have access to the mappers key? Go to another mapper and they have to start afresh. It has always been this way so why are people getting upset at aftermarket maps which take a lot more time to develop than ecutek maps?

If you buy a coca-cola can do you have the right to the secret formula?

A more pertinent question would be what was the agreement here between the parties? That is only something they know I guess

That's the engine built now. I still have to weld the cracked bellhousing at the starter motor area and am going to alter one of the boost pipes and supercharger manifold before it all goes back into the car. So far so good :D

I hope to have her back up and running by Monday, then she can go for running-in and a fettle of the map if needed (engine CC slightly different to the last engine) :smthumbup

I have a few photos i'll post up once the engine is in. I may post up a photo of the complete engine/box/supercharger and belt drive package while it's on the engine crane if I'm in a good mood ;).
