i blew my turbo it was whistling and had no boost, so changed it, the new new turbo isnt as strong on boost and the pops and flames have gone any ideas why?

its an evo 4 it had as far as i know a standard turbo although theres trust stickers on the car and i put a standard 1 on it squeaks when i rev it at stand still though

Have you connected the pipework to the actuator and turbo compressor housing the correct way around? The standard setup has restrictors in it to control boost pressure.

Check to see which pipe the little restrictor is in, should be in the short bit of pipe to the turbo compressor housing. If you are using a boost controller, they won't be fitted.

Squeeze the pipework and see if you can feel anything hard, not 100% sure the IV has them fitted.
Were the turbo's you changed identical, and did you preload the actuator correctly?

Is the boost much different after you changed the turbo? The restrictor is in the ppipe that connects to the turbo compressor housing nipple.
