Hi to all,
I am new in the Lancer world,
I own a early turbo version:
Lancer Turbo I (1980-1985) type A176 (ANTL6),
And I would like to race with this car.
Do you know if there is any bolt-on upgrades for the brakes,
Or just race pads would be fine as a start.
I also look for lower springs and race dampers,
As well as LSD or similar set-up.
Any info and advice welcome!
Thanks for your help,
Hiro from Paris, France

Hello Hiro...welcome to the MLR

brakes:
1. mintex 1144 pads will work
change all rubber brake lines to braided type &use synthetic fluid
and/or
2. convert to 5-stud hubs to include big(ger) brake disks
- fairly straightforward as the late model Starion suspension & hubs will bolt straight on; you just have to change the top mount to the LT one
The rear hubs have to be re-drilled to 5-stud

2. perfectly ok to cut one coil
this was done by a lot of the LT racers back in the Toyo tyre series days
or
use lowered/uprated Ford Sierra Sapphire 2wheel-drive front springs on the front & Ford Escort mk2 front springs on the rear
Think you can still get Koni & Bilstein in Europe for these cars
Alternative is converting to coil-overs

3. LSD's are very hard to find
I've got a Quaife LSD in my Lancer Turbo, but they're expensive & rare.
You can use a 4-stud Starion LSD but these are getting rare now(I've got a spare that I might sell...)
- this has to be machined a little to accept the Lancer prop bearing

have also got alloys and other items if interested
good luck

btw
there's a 'Lancer 2000 turbo' section on here
...best to post your questions there in future....
