This should be of interest to some of the old hands.

Wayne has convinced his boss to make a small batch of 4 and 5 stud alloy hubs and needs to know if anyone would be interested in a set.
The price would be about £120 a pair which is the same price as a pair of Group 4 Escort hubs! He really needs about 5 people for each. So far only myself and Wayne want a pair of 5 stud hubs.

Here is a couple of pictures of some prototype Escort based hubs for a kitcar company to try to show the quality of the machining.

Very, very tempted.

What's the material spec?

Any possibility of hard anodising?

Do you want me to analyse them properly for strength and stiffness using Aerospace tools?

I should have guessed someone would ask technical questions. I'll find out.

How's you Lancer coming along?

Dom, the project hasn't progressed since I left the country to earn a better wage and put it all in storage. It's one of the only things I really miss about the UK.

I'll finish it sometime before I retire - seriously contemplating paying someone to finish it for me but that would be no fun.

I've passed on the questions to Wayne.

What exactly is hard anodising? I thought anodising was just for looks?

How would you test them ?

Anodising is mainly for corrosion and wear resistance.
Hard anodising is the dark grey type you sometimes see on WRC parts and involves a slightly different process to 'normal' anodising. It gives a much harder surface for improved wear resistance.

Dom

Pencil me in for a pair of four studs. Ask wayne if they will change the front track. As I'm sure you can appreciate, we haven't got a lot of room to spare.

BILLTEL: They will not alter the front track at all.

EXMAN: Do you want 4 stud instead of 5 stud?

Right then. Including BilTel and Exman we've now got 4 for 4 stud and 2 for 5 stud.

Any more interested parties?
