Took the car (E6) out the other day and noticed that when I went over a hump in the road that compressed the suspension significantly I heard a knock come from the rear near side somewhere around the suspension area. I've tried to reprduce this noise in the garage by bouncing on the car but can't load the suspension enough. I've looked for worn bushes, exhaust etc but can't see anything obvious. I would be interested to know if anyone else has had this and what the final cause was found to be.
All suggestions greatly appreciated.

long shot but it could be stone caught in the springs
i drive on gravel a bit (great fun with the tyres i have)
and once i get back on a sealed road it goes dong, dong and eventually clears
