was a very good night last night although only spectating i did enjoy seeing some other evo's on track! lots of nice cars sitting around the track too especially the extreme down at the hairpin! getting tyre sorted out this week so hopefully be on track very soon!
one thing i did notice was all the black reek coming out of ur car john? is that normal? noticed it at duffus everytime? hope its meant to do that!
cheers jimmymc
No it's not, but it does. Full decat, induction and VTA makes it run rich, so a lot of fuel gets blown through on the over run, plus at the last service there was a wee touch too much oil put in.

Not overly concerned as running rich is safer that lean. You should have came along and got some pax laps.
Vid of Phil's first Track Day

Here's Phil's first outing in his 500bhp Beast - how brave am I to go as passenger

Phil's Lap 14MB

Phil - I'll send you the original on DVD - you can learn the lines by watching it :D

Cheers :)

Rog
Cheers Rog, thanks for the co-driving :D :coolsm:

First time i have ever been on a track as you can probably tell by some ogf the interesting lines i was taking  Really excellent day masybe turn my boost controller up next time :D , brakes upgraded and decent tyres for next one though

Phil
You were on for a 64s lap before pitting, which isn't bad for a beginner :D

TBH with that power, you could do with stiffer suspension too, although it's nicely balanced and puts the power down well as it is(in the dry at least!).

The problem was your brake fluid overheating - change this, put on some new DS2500s front and back and it should be fine! Although with that performance, AP/Alcon/Movit/Stopteck/KAD/Camskill kits might be better!

Brilliant Day :D

Cheers :)

Would braided hoses help alot?

they were basically new ds 2500's they knackered allready
:D
Brakes definetly on the mods list

get a decent brake kit on it phil,ap etc.
braided hoses will stiffen the pedal a little.
i ran ds2500s at kh last time.wasn't impressed with them.ds3000 or ds3000+ are better, only thing is that the 3000s are harder on your discs.other option is some carbon material pads.2500s are a good road pad,but not to good on track if you are pushing hard, thats going by me experience anyway.also get some good brake fluid,ie castrol srf,ate superblue.all helps.tyres will be the next thing.used slicks are a good cheap option for extra grip and quicker lap times.may need to uprate your suspension with the sticky rubber though.its never ending spending :blah:

Another couple of laps and you would be in the kitty litter  ;) Nah, seriously, your driving was fine! :D

The art of driving a "fast road" spec car on track is getting the best from whatever bits you choose/can afford. Phil set fire to the brakes after about 5 laps, so that was that!  You'll see how early I'm having to brake on the vid after that - if you were running 6 pots & race pads I could knock 5s+ off the lap time. Just have to watch people going in to the back of you, though

A lightweight race car, or even an Elise etc would be far lighter on brakes, tyres etc.

I have gone the full road spec route and now track my EVO with its twin 12in subs in and full air con, sat nav DVD etc. Makes the trip up the M90 barable!

Cheers :)

was using ds2500s.one day at kh and they were knackered.gave the car a hard run one night and had lots of brake fade at high speed, heated everything up and the discs started to vibrate a bit,i'm now trying carbon ceramic pads.the disc vibration is getting less as the new pads are bedding in.replaced the discs 2000 miles ago and have a tiny shake now.looking at them tonight they are starting to hairline crack and wear a groove on them.fooking expensive carry on.the brakes are great, but discs/pads will still need replacing frequently hammering a quick heavy evo around a race track.like rog says,an elise, lighter car wont be so sore on brakes n tyres.aps are excellent, but do your homework and see what else is on the market.hope that makes sense

martin
Yeh makes sense Martin :) , can you get better discs to suit the carbon ceramic pads? Do you have to heat the up much to get them working properly?

yes,the carbons need a heat up,seem to bite well when hot.the ds3000s have good bite from cold to hot,i still rate them(3000s) as a really decent pad.should have fitted them last time, but have to try something new as well.will give my discs a clean up before croft and hope it comes together.i've spent £750 on discs and pads in the last 6 month,so hope to get the summer out of this set  its all trial and error.you have to buy and try at times :blah: will let you know how these new pads go.i'm told they are the business.time will tell.remember and pump the old fluid out of your callipers after track use to.keep it all fresh.

cheers
Yeh cheers Martin, will see how you get on, yeh and i'll try and remember to pump all the old fluid out :coolsm:
