Went to look at one last night, as a poss replacement for the six. Car looks good, with history etc and very high spec DAMS engine Dog box etc etc. Just wondering if anyone has driven one, or been in one/watched at rally. Comes with turbo restrictor ie 300BHP, but could be removed to up the power a bit for hill climbs, sprints, track days. Struggling to convince Keeley that a Puma is worth £25k but I'll keep trying :)

Cheers for any help.

Silversix,

I used to have a heavily modified Puma Turbo. Check this months edition of Fast Ford or CCC if you want to see it. More for fast road use than track. A great chasis and a true thrill to drive. Unfortunately it does not compare to the Evo. Don't know what it would be like in four wheel drive but I should imagine it would be fun.

If it uses the cossie lump then you could be in for some heavy modifying and expensive maintenance bills. Stick to the Evo mate it's a far superior all rounder.

On the limit the Puma chasis can be quite snappy and can catch you out, It's not as progressive and controllable as the Evo. Not sure about the styling on those Imtec Puma's either. A bit to over the top for my liking. I suppose styling doesn't really matter if it's a mental car though.

Don't think tuning will be an issue, as it already has GEMS, with anti lag, water injection, (cost about £8k) and a f'kin huge intercooler, Mahl pistons, paddle clutch etc etc...300BHP with a 34mm restrictor, is the same as a proper Ralliart Grp A EVO! IT's Basically an Grp A Escort cossie re shelled into a puma, that has had a space frame welded into it. Apparently they will eat Grp N evo's, and are a match for clubman 6R4's. I'm waiting to see if I can get some sort of to event insurance, before looking any harder. If not it would mean buying a tow car and trailer.
