hi all,
I want to switch out my oem 180kmh cluster/speedo for the 300kmh ralliart one, but i cant justify spending 2k+ on a cluster so im looking at the faceplates (if thats what theyre called) instead.
so the obvious issue here is calibrating the car to read the new speedo to match the correct speed. how would i do this? i searched but couldnt find anything on this topic :/

You need to reflash the EPROM on the circuit board of the cluster.

You'll need a chip reader and a clip that goes over the chip - easier than removing the chip from the board.

You'll then need the programming software. You can download the current info from the chip and modify it or go online and look for a file that is calibrated to those dials - which will still need to be modified to match your current odometer reading.

It's a massive faff just to fit those face plates.

I corrected the mileage on my Evo has it had been clocked when it first came into the country. I didn't mod the existing file, I took one I found online. Didn't notice for a week that the speedo was under reading. Was a PITA and if you get it wrong or the flash process doesn't work correctly, you'll kill the cluster (ask me how I know :D )

oh jeez 😅😨ill tread carefully, or ill have a shop with experience to do it..definitely dont want to screw this up

Thing is you’ll only use a third of the readout if you’re in MPH
ill still be in kmh (im in canada!), but youre still right, i wont be hitting the max on the speedo

@ 14.50 hit near 300 pretty effortlessly.
No way in that video is that evo 'actually' doing nearly 190mph at the ring. That speedo cannot be calibrated properly. I've maxed my Evo out at nearly 150 at Milbrook on the bowl and it's way faster than that video footage. Plus it took the car at least a 2 mile lap to get there and last time I checked th ring doesn't have a straight bit that long?
