Hello everyone. Bought a Lancer GSR 1800 a year a go. Found this site to be very good for advise. I was wondering if anyone could help me fix my A/C. The setting 1 and amp; 2 fan are not working. Only the 3 and amp; 4 works. Gets kind of cold at 3 all the time. Any suggestions?

by the sound of it if your fan only works on 3 and amp;4 then you will need to get a new resistor pack for you fan(the resistors control the fan speeds one for each speed)

What cuontry do you live in. New Zealand??
What boost pressureare you running it at?
What isthe ignition timming set at??

Let me know how you get on

Akiwi,
I think you will find that 99% of people don't mess with the base setting of ignition timing. The computer advances and retards the timing from the base setting quite effectively so you shouldn't need to trouble it. By advancing the base setting you risk detonation damage because when the computer tries to retard the timing it might not be able to retard it enough to counter detonation.

But the ECU will simply reduce max. boost pressure if the base ignition timing point is reached and it can't go any further. I had the chip on my E3 changed and they advanced the ignition at the same time. Problem was I had that 104|PLS| octane booster in the tank at the time and when I reverted back to straight 96 (I now use 98) pump octane the ECU went into limp mode , so I was told, and was boosting at the the engine's old stock boost of around 0.7 bar. They must have had the base advanced to the limit still when readjusted because even on a couple of other following occasions on 96 octane the car went into limp mode, but then I'm told our old 96 octane used to go as low as 94 so I must have got a bad batch of petrol on those occaisions or something.

To Aaron68NZ and amp; Wreckleford; thanks for the advice but I don't see what it has to do with fixing my A/C. Thanks akiwi and lightspeed. I checked it out with my brother and he had a similar problem on his CRX. The resistor was busted. I'm from WA Perth. Boost running at 1 bar. Not sure about the timing
