I live in the US of A. How much do Lancer EVO's (4-6) go for where you are from (in pounds or US dollar)? How much should I expect to pay to have one imported and made US legal? I know most of you probably don't have a clue, but if you do, I would love to hear it. Thank you all in advance.

I saw an advert in Autosport magazine for Global Performance, EUR30,000 (Euros) from Rotterdam and in left hand drive (RSII spec). Check out their web site too at http://www.globalperformance.co.uk they specialise in shipping Evo's around the world. Good luck!

EDITED.... DOH! Just read your message again, you want a 4 - 6! Sorry, Global advert was for 7's, however, drop them a line from the site, I'm sure that if they can help, they will.

Importing will not be the problem, making the Evo's legal for US roads is the hard thing.
Try http://www.lancerforums.com for information on importing to the US. It is a US based board and has a lot of information on importing if you look.

Logan, I own an Evo 5, and I live and drive it daily here in New York. I can tell you that you alone would not be able to do it, you'll need someone who is foreign to import it for you, run it for a few months, then apply for a title in a state that is really simple minded and dumb in regards to what's allowed and what's not, and you risk loosing your money if: Person who imports is not trustworthy (wants to keep it REMEMBER car is in his/her name), once declined by the title issuer you can't try it anywhere else in the US (stays in the computer as a cladestine vehicle). You may risk spending well over 30,000 dollars obtaining the vehicle, getting it ready for exportation, shipping/logistics costs involved, customs taxes, etc.

Non-resident vehicles registered in another country may be imported for personal use for a period not to exceed one year. The vehicle cannot be sold and it must be exported within one year from the date of entry. There's the opportunity. If you can manage to understand how the system works, you're well into ownership of your evo. Do some search on the web and you'll find all types of legalities involved with importation of vehicles. You'll defientely need forms HS-7 declaration, and HS-474 I believe it was. Also, dealer plates can surely allow you to drive it. Again, you must be a registered dealer and risk getting caught and loosing your dealer license.

here's a site to vehicles that can be imported to the US legally (does not include the lancer evo): http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/elig0109.html

here's a list of registered importers in the US: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/RiHT0108.htm - they'll not import an evo, trust me DONT EVEN ASK!

Now, I've found one site on the web that dealt with importation of nothing but evos to the US. Use the search engine on this site, and you'll find the site I'm talking about. Although they never answered my emails, and someone told me that they wanted to charge them well over 50,000 dollars for a full conversion Evo 6. Full conversion meaning a mirage frame/chassis with evo bits. No thanks, my VIN reads CP9A, and that's an EVO! :)

Also, two years ago I met a guy named Frank in Kendall, FL who had imported a few, I think 6 or 7, Jap vehicles (skylines, fto, evo, etc). All his vehicles were titled: some in Indiana, Alabama, Florida. He was selling them, yet I don't remember his phone number. Also, there's a group of guys in Cali who import Skylines. They do charge over 70 grand for one OUCH!

hope this helps...
