Hello everyone. I am new to this site. I've came across this site from another member from another Evo site. I have a question. I don't have these two ports on my exhaust manifold on my US version Evo VIII MR. However, I kept on seeing them on the JDM and UK version Evos. I am wondering what are those two ports for. See the two white circles in the picture below. I'm very interested in finding out what I'm missing out on my US Evo. Thanks.

Mr Evil,
Those are the ports for the secondary air system that has been around on the JDM Evo's from the Evo 4 onwards IIRC.
It operates when you have been on wide open throttle for more than 3 seconds and then you lift off the throttle and go back on again with the revs still greater than 4,000 rpm. It then opens and dumps air into the exhaust manifold as a sort of mild anti-lag system.

Yes,
It's not really an ALS at all, it just dumps the air into the manifold without retarding the spark, adding extra fuel etc.....

And yes, it is controlled by the ECU
