Hi All,
Am an Evo newbie and have just bought an Evo 6 GSR knowing there was a possible problem with the rear diff.
When I got the car a month ago I used to get a grinding, clunking noise from the rear mainly when turning right which after 5-10 mins of driving would go away.
Using one of the very helpful how to guides here on the MLR I changed the fluid in the rear diff and also the AYC clutch bath. Doing this for some reason has made the problem worse and I get the grinding and clunking noise both on right and left lock and the problem doesn't go away after driving like before :shake:
Its now made the car pretty much undriveable.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Alan

Hey Dyno,
What sort of money am i looking at for a rebuild or for a secondhand one?
I wouldn't mind repairing it myself if i can buy the parts.

Cheers D,
Much appreciated.
I will get onto T GSR3 now and see if the diff is still available.
Is the Evo8 Diff a direct fit or is there any thing else needed? If its gone which others will fit?

Thanks again,
Alan

no problem mate..... ;-)
we are here to help each other ;-)
and in this case, I am in the same situation like you :-(((((
my 4 has a wrecked diff, I´ll replace it with a rear diff from e6, but later I´ll change it to a RS DIFF SETUP! (ask -neverneverman- if you wish the same) ;-) he is the "diff god" ;-)
cheers
