am at the moment in the process of removing the gearbox to replace the clutch in my evo 5. all bolts are removed but something internally seems to be holding up the gearbox and it is impossible to drop it. can anybody tell me what the secret is to this. its probably obvious but I just cant see it.
thanks

no is there some easy of doing that. we actually got it out by unbolting the pressure plate through a hole in the housing and dropped it all together. but how are you supposed to unclip the bearing when it is all in place. ?????????

Apparently there are a number of different ways of getting a gearbox out. I've seen it done a couple of times and on both occassions they had to drop the right side of the engine block to allow the gearbox to slide out.

Hi,
Well i had the same trouble removing my box, like it would come away from the engine about 30mm but no futher until i foun i missed a bolt on the top gearbox mounting that was hidden from view, in other words the was 3!! not 2 bolt.
hope it's that simple.
