It's this weekend Sat 24th Feb, 15 FTOs on the rollers, But I think nearer 25 are turning up.
Also some of the FTO Club are going to be at Santa Pod on the 8th April for the third MIVEC vs. NIVEC shootout. GTO club is going to be there and both the UK Cyborg Rs on the 4G92 MIVEC Register will be turning up (hopefully).
MIVEC |EQU| Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing and lift Electronic Control
NIVEC |EQU| No Innovative Valve timing and lift Electronic Control
There has been many a debate on the FTO forums and list servers as to the merits of the 200bhp V6 MIVEC engine (GPX and GP version R models) over the 180bhp V6 engine in the GR. From the last two shootouts at Santa Pod it's apparent it really doesn't make any difference. I currently hold the 4 speed Tiptronic record in the FTO Owners Club and mine was a GR (NIVEC). http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle > Of cause we like to give those MIVEC boys another chance to proove us wrong [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/tongue1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
The whole thing is very light hearted but we did find out that on the strip as well as real world driving the MIVEC had very little advantage over the standard V6. And that Manuals (if driven well) are about 1sec faster over the 1/4 mile, but it's very driver dependent and some can't get them to go any faster than a Tiptronic (auto box).
This April I will be taking my wifes Cyborg R which is a 1.6 MIVEC. I am torn between supporting my (ex) FTO NIVEC brethren or supporting the 2.0 V6 MIVEC crowd. It would be so much easier if I was taking the Supra in which case I would be supporting the NIVEC (my Supras not VVTi see [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle > )
