Hi peeps....

I'm about to take a big plunge......you know the feeling......permanent daze......mind elsewhere......can't sleep etc

I can get into an FQ-400 or a CSL for the same money......both blow my socks off to say the least. CSL is a change from my Scoob/Evo recent history, with awesome engine, handling and soundtrack.....tyre thing (rate of wear and wet handling) is a worry though.
Xtreme also have a beast of interest.....MR XT-400 (360bhp and over 400 lb ft), but they have had trouble selling it and that worries me.

Any views on any of these cars or words of wisdom from those who have taken a similar plunge would be greatly appreciated

FQ 400 for trackdays and grin factor,csl for boring trip to shop,
raced csl on track lapped it in 5 laps it had worst handling ever and braking wot brakes.
xt no idea sound good with 400lbft but never seen one

Don't forget....Evos are easy to drive fast compared to CSLs......but a well driven CSL is one fast car....it's just that most people who own them don't have the skill.....or bottle.....to get the best out of them......I'd love to learn how to drive a rear driver on the limit....

I agree i drive a 6.0l V8 amg as my everyday drive and its great to get the backend out and have a bit of fun ,but it wont get near the evo in the dry never mind the wet,
its all down to wot u want out of a car,speed and handling,or speed and comfort

It would have to be the Evo but then I'm biased..................the CSL, well, it's a bit limp wristed isn't it ? The Evo would definitely be more foregiving and you'd have to be one hell of a good driver to get the best out of the CSL. I'm sure the CSL sounds great when pushed....so long as it doesn't sound like a standard M3 when driven hard - sounds bloody awful if you ask me. 330 Ci sounds better !

why dont u buy ashleys 400 bhp car thats better than the fq400

or even shauns 700 bhp monster for 35k a full road going race car that will slay the mclaren f1s ass and do mid 10 quarter miles and 9 even with a dogbox

If you like the performance of the Evo but are not to keen on the 'automated handling' of the AYC; why dont you consider importing a GT via Nigel Swindell?

It has all the bells and whistles of the EVO but has a limited slip differential. Spend approx 5-6k via NR Autosport and you are looking at a cool 400/400bhp that will beat the pants off any EVO FQ400.

I am toying with the idea of chopping my MR in and buying a BMW or a Merc, for the last five years I have had an Evo on the drive and to be honest I am all done in with the "accelerate and corner like a [email protected]" Evo trip, because this is all it's good for realy, I am so used to rip snorting acceleration and stupid roundabout speeds that recently I take our Honda FRV people van on business meetings over the MR, it is like a breath of fresh air not having to blast of on the motorway as I feel I am duty bound to in the MR.........................I do fancy an M3 or a C32 AMG.............................HELP ME

why are people so concerned by a warranty?

first of all, you have to be mental to even leave your car at a normal mitsu garage.

second, so what if the engine blows, gearbox fails, etc... just replace them! the money you will save from buying a second hand car without warranty will more than pay for it!

plus, evos are not meant to be bought and left alone! your supposed to modify them and turn up the boost!

plus fq-xxx is just a modified evo from japan. why not do the modifying yourself... pick one of the many uk tuners with impeccable reputations that far surpass CCC.

has anyone ever had an evo from japan be a lemon, with all kinds of components failing? i've not ever read a thread like that here. evo's are ****ing bulletpoof.

well shauns car will be def more reliable than the fq400 with alot better power band

u know their is such a thing as a boost controller , u turn it down to 1.2 u will get 500 something bhp

in my humble opinion
and not wanting to start another thread war

but with the fq 400 what you get is exclusivity and contary to some peoples dislikes on here there are im afraid in a minority as i have never had a bad word said about mine and people are genuinley pleased to see a 400 in the flesh,

they also go like stink and i have only be passed twice on a track day and both vehicles had more power than me,

as to the csl that is bmw biggest flop you will absolutley blow one away in a 400,

i am however selling mine , this nothing to do with pere pressure it is merley the fact that i aim to build my own car from scratch to test products that we either make of develope so watch this space,

my oppinion is get a fq 400 they are as cheap to insure as a 260 and they will beat 90 % of production road cars out of the crate but you should go with your own gut feeling and if thats a csl go with that its your hard earned at the end of the day
