After some research I have got the rolling radius of the tyres and gear ratios and I think these are the correct max speeds in each gear.

GSR

1st 40.56
2nd 60.69
3rd 82.28
4th 107.26
5th 135.93
6th 170.26

GT

1st 42.87
2nd 61.23
3rd 82.68
4th 108.94
5th 156.89

This is assuming a 7400 RPM limit which I think is about right, but you get the idea.

Essentially the first 4 gears are the same in both cars, with the GT having 5th somewhere between 5th & 6th on the GSR.

For comparison 1st, 2nd are identical to and Evo VI TME, 3rd & 4th are slightly lower making it a slightly closer ratio gearbox. 5th is the same. So those worried about the GT being inapproriate for a daily drive due to gear ratios have nothing to worry about.

This means that 90-100 in top is 3900-4400 in the GSR and a slightly less fuel efficient 4200-4700 in the GT. But at motorway cruise speed there is only 300rpm in it....not too bad!

Is there any news on an official 'UK' release date yet?
None, I have had a bit of a go at Paul Brigden at CCC and he is divulging nothing. I do know they are air freighting two IX into the UK. So they will be the first to have them, not us lot..... ;)

I expect the car will eb making UK dealers around Aug / Sept.....will they do the GT or just the GSR, who knows!

Personally now I know the gear ratios, the GT looks the much better car. The 6-speed gearbox is much less strong than the 5-speed and frankly the 5-speed was widely loved whereas the 6-speed has received much critisism for being notchy and hard to use.

Well I think you know I think that would be a good idea! :D
Really?

I thought you had a secret passion for 'you know what's' :p

Seriously though, one of the main reasons for selling the 7 was the age etc, it was nearly 4 years old and I do not like having to lower myself to do MOT's etc.

I thought about an 8 but didn't really see much of a difference between that and my 7...

I think this time around I will just buy the top spec IX and leave it standard or alternatively buy a IX Xtreme (if there is going to be one)

Will be interesting to see what route CCC will go - I can't see them bringing out the GT (but you never know). However, I wouldnt be surprised if they add some of the cosmetic styling pieces (albeit cheaper UK sourced versions) such as the vortex generator and ralliart splitter for the higher end CCC models.

That's why I think I will wait a couple of months after they have released them before buying one.

I feel sorry for 8 owners who bought an FQ300 only for an FQ330 to be released 5 minutes later, then the whole MR range being uprgraded from 300 to 320 to 340.

That didn't take long... what have you found you don't like about the Commodore?
Erm, nothing yet :)

I usually change car every 9-12 months.

The Evo 7 was an exception as I had that for 2 years.

By the time the IX is released as a UK car I will have had the Monaro for around 9 months, therefore, time to change the car again :D
