I know i've posted elsewhere on here with about my new RS, but about time I posted in the correct section !

I looked all over for a replacement to be the next best thing for my VII (which was costing too much to run).

I've had all sorts of cars previously, and test drove loads more while looking for a replacement, including:-

EVO IV, V, VI - just too old after the VII

DC5 Integra type R - couldn't get the power down & frustrating lack of power out of VTEC, more expensive to insure than an EVO !

270 bhp Audi S3 - too boring & dull to look at.

Scooby UK300 modded to 280 bhp - Not quick enough or good enough handing & I hated the look over the bonnet to the bug eyes.

Always fancied a FRS but they've never been in my price range, until I saw this one.

It was on axle stands when I saw it due to the wheels being off for a re-furb, but I liked it so much without even driving it, I knew I wanted it - somehow it just makes you feel "special" inside like no other car i've had.

Took it for a test drive the next day and bought it immediatley.

Had it a month now and dne over 1000 miles and can report as follows:-

This is the first car for a long time that I have really loved to drive (the VII put me off due to the constant poor fuel consumption, averaging 18 mpg)

The build quality is superb, as is the handling and superb 4 pot silver Brembos (which won't discolour like red one's). The size of car is also much better for me - even with 2 kids.

The performance is really good with a reported 0-60 of 5.9s and 14.6 to 100, with the 1/4 mile about 14.8.

It also puts the power down well, due to having 225/35/18's, although the torque steer does pull you from side to side a bit but you get used to it.
There is no traction control which is a bonus as I hate it.

The car looks superb from the outside, but the best part for me is the inside. Everything is so well put together, the steering wheel is really nice, handbrake & gearknob superb, as are the pedals. The seats look, feel & smell gorgeous and there's RS logos everywhere including the sporty blue dials.
It also has a seperate starter button and even a "shift up" light on the rev counter - nice little touches.

But the best bit for me is the running costs - I've had an insurance quote for £425 - less than half what I was paying for the evo.
I've just done 325 miles on a 55 litre tank, which averaged 32mpg. Pushing hard in the first week I still got 260.

So basically, for me it's the best car i've had for a long long time, and being back in a (brilliant) hot hatch makes you feel quite young again after feeling more grown up in an evo !

Nice car Geoff, i looked at these too, but, i thought that i might be disappointed at the performance so i somehow managed to buy an Escort Cosworth ! (450 bhp tho) ;)

But does look well refined inside and the ride quality is surely better than the Evo.

Cheers guys - I've had this car for about 7 weeks now and I can honestly say it's the best all round car I've ever had. (and i've had a lot !!)
The handling & performance are only about 8/10's of my VII, but for "all round" ability it's just superb.
I can't see me getting another EVO for quite some time.

I can't afford to be modding it and don't actually think it needs it anyhow, although I am putting a K&N panel filter in at the weekend and as my front pads are low they are being replaced by some DS2500's.

Cheeerio guys

I grew up with an evo as well... and now I'm reaching almost 430 bhp.
But the focus of my brother, built up by www.bemani.ch in Switzerland
is just awesome. The KKK Turbocharger releases its power very smoothly, much better then every chiptuned standard RS. He's now @ 315 bhp.
totally stripped, round 1100 kgs. Check www.carbonfibrefx.com
for carbon/kevlar hood on focus 8 Kgs lighter then the standard one

Just for your information.

Cheers
