Finally Started My Uk TME Underbody Restoration.

After viewing several impressive restoration projects on the MLR recently Ive finally plucked up the courage to start mine !

The plan being a complete underbody restoration, down to bare metal, rustbullet, paint (red, black and white) various parts to be blasted and powder coated, new bolts, bushes and other new bits as needed !!

Managed to bag myself a Bradbury 4 post lift from my mechanic friend who was upgrading to scissor lifts. Should make the whole job easier ! Had to buy and fit an inverter to convert to 3phase but with a lot of help from Sean a fellow Red Mak owner this was soon sorted !

Progress is going to be steady due to work and family commitments , and the fact I want it damn near perfect !

I will post the updates as and when they happen , a few photos below show this afternoons progress. A few parts removed and half a tank of super unleaded drained !

To be honest I was really worried about what may lay beneath - considering its a uk car ! Yes there are areas of surface rust underneath the underseal but the floor pan and sills look pretty decent considering . Hopefully will be getting down to some serious underseal and rust removal soon :smthumbup

A little update of today's progress ... managed to get the doors built back up again , surprising how long it takes refitting all the glass , motors , locks , handles wiring looms , rubbers and so on ....

Moved on to the bonnet , refitted the grills and a new insulation panel ....

Missed Japfest for the last 3 years , so decided to bring Japfest to the mak ...

Probably the tidiest Integra I've seen in a long time , the Subaru is a bit of animal .. 400bhp apparently !!

When you were re-building the rear wing were you able to find 4 x new replacement screws that go up into the wing? The ones that get badly rusty with the wide flat head.
lovely job your doing:smthumbup
noticed wheel bearings have no support...you would be better off splitting the driveshaft and clamping up the outer shaft so wheel bearings are nice and tight in there races....as they have no support as it stands now

I'm not sure what screws you mean mate ?
These ones:

Oh those ones ... I cleaned the heads up with my mbx metal blaster and sprayed them satin black . Yours don't look too bad . Don't think they are listed on the Mitsubishi pnc computer . But I could be wrong .

Did you get new bumper mesh or have the old ones painted?

I had the old ones blasted and painted , new ones are ridiculously expensive !!

Little bit late with the weekly update , but the car is still on the ramp ! Seems the sight of the recent good progress has bought me a little more time in my borrowed garage space

Anyway took the opportunity of a few hours this weekend to fit the refurbished AYC pump and pipe work .

Pump and all new nuts, bolts , bushes , pipe work and dust cover....

Think it goes somewhere near here !!

Part 1

Part 2

Job done !

Hoping to fit the fuel and brake lines , and hopefully the fuel tank next weekend !
