No increase in revs, the drive just fails, I have noticed it’s gone to manual mode when I havnt touched the paddle shift.

not sure about the mode change, but twice, maybe 3 times in 4 years, my X SST has done something similar, let off the accelerator (say as you go round a tight corner), press the accelerator and nothing, but every time, press again it works. Only a guess here, but i think it maybe related to the fly by wire accelerator pedal sensor

When you get it sorted will you reply on here what it was, as I suspect 1 day I may have similar

Thanks Stu, a couple people have said solenoid problem which means refurbishing the gearbox, which moneywise doesn’t make sense. So if I can’t cure it easily I’ll sell it. A sad day after 11 years awesome driving !!

I'd start by checking for stored fault codes, engine and gearbox, could easily be something simple

The first it stopped it was checked over by the AA who found a load of random faults, so cleared them and it was fine for 1000 miles !! But will get it cleared again, thanks anyway

Thats handy, so if faults have been cleared previously recently, the faults shown now should be relevant, definitely make a note of all codes stored now. Maybe worth saving them for someone with MUT tool (Mitsi or specialist :mitsi:) to make sure you get all codes. Chances are that will point you in the right direction

My concern is AA might only check engine codes but clear the lot

Although your symptoms does quite fit what used to happen on one my X SSTs, you might like to try swapping out the two large black relays and all of the smaller ones that are the same as the infamous fuel pump relay. If I can find a pic of the fuse box I'll post on here with the relevant ones marked.

If it was a gearbox issue I think I'd expect the engine to continue to rev freely even when drive was lost (as I suspect Stu was thinking too). His fbw throttle issue suggestion definitely seems a possibility worth investigating further.

Had diagnostics done and showed no faults apart from rear speed sensor ( ABS ) which I knew about and that’s all !

Should have mentioned it was a full diagnostics check
How annoying :(

Where are you at with the car at the moment, is it working ok, and the fault intermittent, or is it immobilised now?

Have the relays been changed? I don't think an intermittent failure of any one of them would result in a fault code.
