Anyone interested in buying a 260?





This is the '260' Euro-spec model, with wider seats, clearer dials, (stronger) five-speed gearbox, isofix child seat mounts and other minor tweaks to make it a legal import, not a grey import. Has not been messed with, which makes it a pretty rare Evo. Drives nicely as a result. AYC Pump was refurb'ed by Harry Hockly not too long ago, cam belt done last year, new air con pump. New stainless exhaust fitted in the last year, as the non-stainless hangers on the original one had rusted away. Still has standard cat converters.

Has been looked after but not treated like a show car.

Approx 95K miles (not KM) on the clock. Lady owner - plus me - for the past ten years.

Bonnet does have a dent where a stone fell off a pikey lorry in traffic. I could get that repaired or leave for a buyer to do that with price adjustment. Couple of minor car-park door dings, annoying but not earth-shattering for a car that gets used on a regular basis.


Has Smartnav Tracker fitted, along with factory-fitted factory Cobra alarm, remote locking, Alpine stereo with hidden amp and sub-woofer, plus (old style) iPod connector.

No unusual noises. Definitely no smoke or anything odd.

Did have an odd noise from engine bay last year, turned out to be bearing on air con pump so that got replaced. Was re-gassed as part of that so air-con works well.

Alternator failed some time ago and was replaced. Annoyingly that unit then had a problem that led to over-voltage, which blew the headlamp bulbs! Had the alternator changed again, and put in new bulbs, that's been fine since then.

AYC lights had been on, so had pump reconditioned (Harry Hockly) and that's fine now.

Did get an odd SRS warning light that was found to be partially-corroded wiring connector in passenger footwell, so that's been fixed.

One rear seat belt inertia mechanism failed a couple of years back (seen at MOT) so replaced that.

I've replaced tyres and brakes whenever needed.
Engine oil/filters changed every six months (by me).

Only change to engine mapping has been to reduce the 'boost cut' that leads to jerky progress when running in cold, dense air. Can reset map to original if desired; it hasn't been tweaked for performance, just to smooth out that known issue with Evo mapping.

No warning lights, no mechanical problems. Goes well enough. Ideal car if someone wants a standard spec daily runner, or wants a basic car to start modifying.

I bought it as a 'reliable Japanese road car' and that is basically what it has been. Not done silly mileage, not been used at circuits or ragged (I have other competition cars for that fun).

Nope. As mentioned, the 260 is the European type-approved model, sold by main dealers across the UK. This one came from Mitsi dealer in Reading, where we bought it second-hand as second owner.

Yes, have had a quote for bonnet paint; two options, just the damage, or the whole bonnet. Few hundred, or double it for whole bonnet. Quality job.

I like to think it's a good price. I'm hoping there's a buyer out there who think so too...

If you don't no you don't no isn't it always best to ask first as insurance premiums are different on imports. Plus if you don't no enough about evos gain best to ask!

I insured my 260 for £280 for the year FC, an import was a lot higher to insure even though im 37 with over 10 years NCB. They can always be modded to the same potential as an import, and you have the stronger gear box if wanting bigger power.

I know mate but buying a specialist car like an Evo you really should do your research and it wouldn't take long to find out stuff like that. Sorry if my comment offended anyone. :smthumbup

Just to add, this car is a fantastic base model to modify and at the price it's a bargain.

3hr drive or even train it mate if the evo is right for you a lot of the lads travel one end of the country to the other to find there car:
