am seriously thinking about forged bottom end.have decided on ross pistons, eagle rods, arp bolts etc etc.how much should a forged bottom end cost.is it cheaper to ship a complete bottom end from usa or nz.dont want to pay over the odds but the power bug has bitten.
when i first started modifying my aim was 200bhp(with my golf) then 300bhp(with evo),then 350,now 400.when does it end. :D

it ends around 400bhp m8 when you can't afford to run the dam thing anymore  as for bottom end upgrade just do rods and pistons with arp bolts and metal head gasket that should see you strong enough and cheaper than going the whole hog!remeber engine tuning just 'moves' the weak spot, next you'd have to uprate the clutch the the cog box etc ect ;)

i know about weak spots.i have spoken with reputable evo 3 tuner in nz.he claims standard transmission can cope with 400bhp/400lb/ft easily which is my new goal and obviously i will need new clutch.he also is aware of the problem with early evos regarding crank walk and thrust bearing failure from excessive clutch pressure and standing starts etc.
all his bottom ends undergo modification to cure this.he has fastest evo 3 in the world so i tend to believe in what he says.
anybody any ideas on pricing for bottom ends, what should i be paying.

well rods and pistons are around £350-£450 depends were in the usa you get them, cranks are uneconomical to bring in so have yours modded over here,if you know this guy well in Nz why not buy from him as its a better exchange rate anyway

ps 400 aint that good the power band is so narrow its hard to keep it going on the road ;)

Hey mark

http://www.prostreetonline.com/
check out these guy's. they are in the US. all the parts are available for eclipse 4g63t Which is the same as evo 4g63t, I've tried to buy parts off them before and all it takes is an email. You can convert the price's into pounds as well.
As for machining cost's I'd get a list off andre of the machining required, ( If he will give it to you though, top secret and all.) and take it to a repertable engine shop.

ps you might what to look at some crower valve spings and retainers, as well. and maybe some cams, and maybe a big turbo and...... ... ....$$$

pps you may want to hold off buying you pistons in case you block has oval bores for the pistons and have to by oversized ones, like what i had to do, and my mate.

Yeah man got the pics, sweet ride dude. Andre Just tuned my mates car today on the dyno. It made 399.9kw at the wheels on c16 race gas and 315kw on pump gas, thats makes it a 715hp (@at flywheel) street demon. It has the same set up as me, but with ported head, big valves and bigger turbo. And being a evo4 RS with short gears, I'd say that its one handfull of a car.
cheers marc

HAPPY EASTER!!
