your pipe is fine, the housing needs twisting slightly thats all
but that should have been done when fitted ;)
that was thought of mate but then the oil and water lines didnt look like they would meet up i even bought all new lines washers bolts gaskets from mitsi for a nine. i will wait and get a new nine j pipe if i have to .

i would like to keep it all proper at worst i think i would rather grind the flange on the j pipe as sujested in the other thread

im hoping i can get a second hand one before monday or i will ring mitsi and get it ordered

peter :)
it only needs twisting a nats **** so no lines are affected. still an option if you dont get the pipe.

cool i will have a look if nothing turns up cheers :)

see you friday :D
ive ordered a new evo 9 fq360 j pipe at a cost of a massive £19.99(gasket an extra £4 something) plus vat at mitsubishi.

for changing the turbo i bought loads of bits including 2 oil filters (1 spare), fuel filter, 2 gaskests ,studs, bolts ,nuts, eye bolts for oil and water lines, washers ,copper washers etc for £165

looking at the invoice the oil line was £3.28 and water line £6.05 plus vat if you didnt want to buy all the nuts etc you could get a kit inc the 2 main gaskets for about £50 plus vat from a main dealer.
although i would recomend getting the main studs ,nuts ,bolts that atatch the turbo to manifold and turbo elbow to turbo .a stud snaped when taking mine apart glad i had bought them. i would also buy the oil return gasket( it costs 99p plus vat)as i had to go back for this today.we used gasket paper sat but i like to get original gaskets where poss.

a cheap 8-9 turbo swop over kit i thought :D

i hope the j pipe fits or i am going to feel an :moon: it should. it has a different part number to mine so they recon at mitsi

the outlet of the 9 turbo J pipe is smaller than on the 8 turbo.

You will need a different size reducer, I am trying to find out which one as we speak!

thank you :)
if you get the j pipe, can you measure the outlet diameter as no one seems to be able to help me.
Adam

The E9 J pipe is 45mm OD with 2 48mm swages to locate the flexible pipe.

Ive got a FQ J pipe on my car. The outlet size is quite odd as the it has large lip on it. I ended up using a 2.5" silicone hose to get over the lip and to connect from the J-Pipe to the 2.5" intercooler piping I have. You could also use a 2.25" silicone hose provided it was soft - it would require a bit of time to get it over the lip. So in summary 2.5" is loose and requires a good clamp, 2.25" is very tight but could be done with the right silicone connector.
cheers for the help im hoping to get it sorted tomorow
