Evo 8 RS

After 15 years i’m back in an evo, last year we had the idea of replacing our ep3 type r track car and buying either another hawkeye spec c or evo 5/6 for track and summer days.
We found a really good importer who started the search, a little while later he asked if this 8 rs was of interest.
At first i wasn’t so keen as i prefer the older models and a spec c was our choice of anything post evo 6 especially as the wife loved hers.
After thinking about it, the car was too good to pass up, grade 4.5 and only 27k miles, so a budget was agreed and Chris was delighted to tell us we were successful.

Once the car arrived it looked as described and i wasn’t expecting it to look so aggressive in the flesh, the photos don’t do it justice but possibly it’s the stance with the coilovers and wheels, it certainly looks as mean as my old 6 which i was surprised at.

The bride seats really suit it which i was worried about it, almost as comfortable as our current family fk2 type r, which are the best seats we have ever had.

Nice to find ohlins coilovers, engine looks standard with exception of a blue coolant hose, to be changed.
Still has the smaller gravel calliper’s so on the look out for a set of brembos or ap’s.
The car will be used only on summer days as it’s just too clean to use on track or winter.

I had already ordered white revolution millenniums before we picked up the car convinced the bronze wheels didn’t suit the car 🙄😅

I’ve only put mudflaps on one side at the moment as i can’t decide if they suit the car, will wait until the revolutions arrive this week to make a decision

Looks good with the mudflaps and at least you will have some protection from chips.
The underside is unreal!
I had gone off the idea of getting a later car, because of putting money into the house, but seeing example's like yours is not helping
Its gorgeous….your importer found a pretty special car, there.

Yeah the wheels look good and they are as light as a feather when putting mudflaps on 😅 not too keen on no centre caps though.

Yeah family civic is great had it 6 years and reminds me of jap cars of old from the past with the power delivery and seats etc.

I’ve not even driven it yet just on my drive still waiting on dvla, weather not been great so wouldn’t be out anyway but hopefully better when you return, im looking forward to a run up to Torridon for a bar meal.

Yes Chris at Aberdeenshire imports knows his stuff and would highly recommend his services!

What wheels are currently on your car? I think they look great. If you plan on getting rid of them when you put on your revolution millenniums, let me know :)

They are Dunlop Direzza wheels, forged from what i can find out online, if i let them go i’ll give you a shout, i may keep them as a spare though

Absolute beauty of a car Mike, what a great example Enjoy it. You'll be chapping at the bit to get it out a run on the unsalted roads now I bet!
I always think the bronze wheels look better in person, especially in certain light conditions. They really suit it

A wee bit of an update on the car since i’ve had it in the country, first of all i had to have a Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser fitted for A-Plan which have been easy to deal with for agreed value and price.

The wheels arrived and some mlr mats were fitted, the car was then treated to a full service and timing belt but not long after i had a sticking front calliper, thanks to Ross Sport for sourcing a new gravel calliper from Japan although this took a couple of months to arrive which kept it off the road, they also sourced me a genuine black coolant hose.

Next up was the Lanoguard treatment which was easy to apply, although maybe not required as the car is stored in a heated garage over the winter months, new badges supplied by Ross Sport as the dirt behind the lettering was bugging me, spoiler also removed to give access to the polisher.
Some brand new 9 rear lights fitted and the front number plate bracket removed, parts all kept for future.

Very, very nice, mate.
Those wheels really set it off....I like all of the lightweight Japanese wheels, but seeing the car with the compomotives on really challenges the CE28s and the like in the looks department.
Its just a pity they weigh so much!
Maybe, I wouldnt change them after all!

Thanks i prefer the rally look and i suppose they stand up a bit better to the pot holes in the Highlands!

Carbon front lip was installed as i thought the front was a bit plain and the ralliart visor but i may take of the spirit of competition logo,

Aye, your right about the potholes!!
I think I would be inclined to remove the "spirit of compettion" logo, but the rest of it is bang on.

Yeah i think it needs to come off bit too much now, it was the done thing 20 years ago!
