EVO 8 Now Evotune Built Stroker Graphs on now

HI
Guys well been a member on here since last year June and owner of my first evo since May 2014.

Thought it was about time I started the thread and let you see how far it has come.

Purchased a Standard 2004/54 plate EVO 8 260 UK EDITION.

Was a Fife Mitsubishi demo then owned by the same chap for 7 whole years only done 65k in that time.
It was standard exterior and interior wise with the rear dinky little spoiler.(had to go straight away)
After seeing it and test drive well it was bought.:lol:smthumbup
Subtle mods
Exhaust
Walbro fuel pump
Uprated spark plugs

Somehow lost pics so had to borrow some what it looked like when i bought it.

Hope you guys like will be adding more as go along as I have gone a long way with this car now.

First shots of how it looked when I picked it up

First step

First thing in action was to get rid of the little spoiler and along came the real spoiler and Evo 9 bumper. I managed to locate from the boys at SVA great help and genuine parts.:D
As I wasn't a fan of silver had to make some changes and add a bit of colour into the mix.
Even tho I wasn't a silver fan fell in love with the car when I saw it and having being a 1 owner vehicle being looked after by AWD motorsports in perth all its life was a no brainer.

Black wheels and tint on the rear lights.

After a remap it was onto finding a few more bits for my up and coming track day.

When I was on the prowell I came across Brett @ EVO GB(Great guy been a awesome help)

Baught a few pieces to start
HKS Induction Kit
And a set of GAB coilovers (which had done little mileage)
And a set of Yokohama A048S (for knock hill:mhihi:)

And then in touch Ian @ Carbotech (the tyrant) for some XP8 pads all round and fresh fluid. (again great bloke sound advice would highly recommend)

Some pics of the coilovers gave them a freshen up before they went on

Picture of coilovers fitted to the car
Made a difference along with a front and rear cusco ARB also purchased from brett.

And a snapshot of the car in the knock hill car park in July last year before our evening track session.

After the first outing at knock hill I had my next track day booked up but front rear wishbone ball joints had given in after the heavy thrash in I gave it and it performed faultless part from that what a strong and well maintained engine is all I can say.

As to power side I was already on the hunt for more as have driven some fast cars in my day so once again on the phone ringing and messaging a few traders.
Thanks to all the trader on here all replied promptly and helped with direction on my build.

Then I got a call from my friend Brett and said Ive got a 2.3 stroker bottom end for sale if your interested:mhihi: and this is where it got more interesting and the bank account balance just started vanishing :rotz:

So the deal was I would buy the bottom end but wanted one engine builder to build all install and map and finish my car and in came Jamie at EVOTUNE (AGAIN EXCELLENT CHAP TO DEAL WITH ON GOING AS YET;))

He was already building the bottom end so was a no brainer for me so I struck a deal with brett.

In the mean time I put my current engine up for sale and went to see my local specialist John at extreme motorsport (another top trader tells it like it is and very helpful in the evo game)for the issue of bushes and underside treatment.

So car got booked in with John for a full strip down underside fit the super pro bush kit and removal of the engine.

In the meantime missed the track day as car was not ready for it and due to John being extremely busy.

HI Thanks
Made 370 at the fly wheel can't remember exact torque misplaced the dyno sheet.
Absolute awesome drive once remapped:smthumbup
Great figure.

My 8 260 made 350/355 with very similar mods.

Huge difference from when the car was standard.

Carrying on from where I left of I put the current engine up for sale on the forum and then Ebay.

In the meantime was in discussions with John at extreme Motorsport (whitburn) regards to what stage I was going to take the underside refurbishment.

Car went off the road Sept 2014 when the road tax ran out and declared it Sorn.

Several enquiries to the engine but no bite.

Car then went into John about early december.

Out cam the engine

Started with the underside but was in for a surprise seen as I was having the super pro bush kit installed and well a full strip down of the underside was only inevitable.

Well came across the common rust and seized captive nuts on the front subframe.

So went to the phones and forums searching for replacement parts.

Front x2 arms
Front subframe
Rear tow control arms (cracked)
Rear Subframe
Along with a new replacement fuel filler neck pipe being on the corroded side.

So all in all it became a big task for John all after all parts were sourced through myself and John himself the car was put back together.

Summary:
Removal of engine
Replaced above parts
New super pro kit and ARBS installed
Full rub down and full underseal treatment
Luckily not much welding was needed considering it had lived in the uk all its life.
Car was pretty solid underneath.

My AYC pump ended being on the leaking side of that came too.
Which ended up with a cracked body so Hockley motorsport repaired for me.
