It's a very interesting HPI on this!

It's coming up as Cat C from 2008 I would say it's been off the road since 2008 as they've repaired it bit by bit.

It also showing finance Interest against the VIN number.

I've been in contact with the owner the last couple of days and was going to have a look at it later in the week. I've questioned the write off and finance on the report with him....

He says he's been in contact with HPI and the CAT C is for a tractor that was written off and shows on the HPI for this because the V5 for the car only shows the last six digitals of the chassis number. Also the finance is a mistake and is nothing to do with the car. It's no longer for sale until he sorts it out.

Strange that it disappeared off the road sometime after 3rd December 2007 (last MOT) and has only just been put back on the road :handsup:

cat c write off

strange as in reality anything cat c shouldnt show finance...
when written off the finance company should be settled by insurance first-although i suppose there may not be enough to settle the finance
its hard to get finance on a cat c car....

I've been exchanging emails with the seller too.

The back story I've been given does seem plausible, although I'm struggling to value the car as I can't remember the last time I saw a VI RS2 for sale.

HPI issue aside, is there an Evo specialist in or around Lincoln that might undertake an inspection? I live over 3 hours away so can't just 'hop' up for a view.

The owner does have an VIII FQ-400 too, so I'm a little surprised there's nothing on these boards. Full VIN is extremely useful though, as is the proper date of registration. That matches will the seller saying he's owned it from 2001 onwards.

NB. Potentially, this thread is relevant: http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=526169

But, all the OPs comments have been edited out.

I bought the car on the above link. Didn't pay anywhere near 12k tho. However, you can't get a 5 or 6 rs for less than 10k so if this is in good condition I think it's worth the asking price. Rare car, glad I bought mine, never really drove a standard ish RS it's fun!

Last time I saw I end being sold was for 8-9k, in essence it's rs with air con, even though it's base for extreme it doesn't come with recaro seats an others parts that would justify the price

Goran I have to disagree with you. Price is/can be justified for many reasons. Condition, rare model, how many on the market etc. The fact that it doesn't have recaros or other parts as you say has nothing to do with it.

It's just persona opinion, ive always been of an opinion that rs2 should come with some basic upgrades like seats, clocks, door cards, at least something that makes it different as last one Ive seen cones with exactly that, so I'll stick to my guns and still see it as an rs with air con

Yea I understand how you see it, but you can't say it doesn't justify the price because of trim surely. It's like saying a GT is worth more over MR RS because of the trim or vice versa.

And it's an RS with

Air Con
Electric windows
Electric mirrors
Airbag
Central locking
Adjustable headlamps
Brembos
Alloys wheels
Choice of Colours ( maybe only silver)
And yes crap seats :)
