Read a couple of posts recently about which polish to use and the lengthy process some of us go to to get that ultimate shine. Now I got an electric polisher for my B'day and now I'm hesitant to use it. Read in a previous post that polishing in circles will give a spiders web effect especially noticable on a black car such as mine. Given that the polisher obviously goes round in circles, I am going to get the ultimate spiders web if I use it? Has anyone used one and got good results?

Stayed away from tehm as used wrongly they will destroy paint. EVO paintwork is well thin anyway. If ur going to use one u have to be mega careful that the pad does not pick up any dirt or u will suffer badly from swirls. I think u have to change the pad on the mop regularly too to get the best results. This is not speak from experiance but what i have read when thinking of getting on myself.

IMHO polish ur car manually and spend the extra on better quality polish and cleaning stuff.

The only electric polisher you should use (if you must) is a random orbital type polisher that oscillates as opposed to rotating which obviously would promote swirling (you always polish in straight lines, never in circles).

Here is a most excellent page on how to use a random orbital polisher:

Thanks for that mate, I'll think I will have a practice on the boot lid.
