When setting the timing should the timing marks on the the early cars show at 3 o'clock for the exhaust side and 9 o'clock for the inlet?

Just wondering if this is the right resource to use?

That link shows the info but the 2g version is more suited to early evos Click Me , the early evos have the same bottom mark as is shown for the 1993 model on 1g diagram, in that the crank backplate lines up with a mark at approx 5'to the hour if you get what i mean :).

The camshaft pulleys have markings that meet as you say, make sure the dowels are at the top as well, you have to preload the exh cam onto valve springs approx 2 teeth as you fit the belt to get it all to line up once tensioned etc, drop me a pm if you need more info :)
