As your turbo is spinning, it is building up pressure, when you take your foot off the accelerator, the system suddenly closes, as the turbo is still spinning, the DV releases this pressure surge, thus stopping the turbo from stalling between gear changes

it releases the pressurised air going into the intake.

when you take your foot off the throttle the throttle butterfly shuts so theres nowhere for the air to go except back past the turbo. this can cause the turbo to stop and spin the other way (stall) thats obviously not good as in about .5sec you are going to open it back up again (gear change)


so the dumpvalve opens under the pressure of the air and releases it which allows the turbo to keep spinning in the correct direction

you already have one. its just not a noisy one because re-circs the air back into the intake again.

changing it may upset the map

As above, you prob have a recirc, and an atmospheric dv may affect your map, I have just removed and blanked mine, and i feel, if you change gear quickly, the car feels as if it spools up quicker, but i am not sure. I don't know if that is a good idea with your set up though
