I cant believe how expensive MR engines are these days. Got mine for £1.8k 10 months ago.

I have seen those engines on Ebay. How safe is it to buy from these kind of places? Do you just trust them buy it and and have it delivered to a garage you arrange the swap to be done by? How do you know what you are getting if you dont really know what your looking at?

There are small changes in terms of the internals, ion coated pistons, better water channels, better head gasket, comes with more aggressive cams etc... It is technically more reliable.

With regards to using it as a base though for a forged rebuild or stroker, would there then be any benefits using an MR engine over say a 6, 7 or 8 standard engine?
