Deleting Posts??

When clicking on the "edit" icon, you get the option to delete a post.
When I try to delete a post I get a message saying i'm not permitted to??

Is this correct or am I doing something wrong??

In addition, people were going into threads that had, how can I put this, 'got a liitle heated' and deleting their replies in attempt to get others into trouble.
