Evening...

So the clutch on my import 9 went on Friday before last.. was sitting at traffic lights with the clutch down in 1st and BANG, thought someone had crashed into the back of me but the engine stalled too. Stuck it into neutral and couldnt get it into gear.. let go of the clutch and it just stayed on the floor. Pulled it back up by hand then it wouldnt go back down past half way, just jammed.

So after a bit of googling i found out it must be the collar in the clutch.. bought the ACT monoloc one and a new release bearing and got it to the garage to fit them. But now everything's apart and we can get a look at it all, i was right about the collar and bearing (smashed to bits), but the clutch plates are worn to bits too. Current clutch is (was) the ACT organic HD and the Streetlite flywheel.

I've been pricing them up and a replacement of the same clutch but slightly lighter Prolite flywheel comes to £864 from Eight Speed,

Or theres the Exedy Hyper Single on funkypower for £970, 6 puck cerametallic instead of the organic disc so will feel a bit diff.

What's people's experiences/recommendations? :beerchug:

Car dyno'd at 409hp, 440ft/lb back in 2009, may be a bit less now. Also as the car is in the shop on the ramp with no gearbox i need to buy this tomorrow morning :wallbang:

Exedy twin all the way

I agree, I run similar power to you, I had an uprated organic clutch, Gary at ATP just fitted an Exedy on Saturday, took the car to Snetterton today ( a bit moist and slippy ) the clutch is so much smoother and lighter to use.

I'll phone around tomorrow morning about prices and availability. Couldn't PM Gary @ APT so i sent his company an email about it, that price on japspeed.co.uk is looking relatively reasonable tho
