Can someone please explain this to me? I found this line elsewhere in MLR
This brings me onto the last weak point of an E4......
Cavitation. Cavitation of the cooling system occurs in an E4 engine at
high RPM. This is where the coolant stops flowing around a part of the
engine (I think its piston 1) due to turbulance. Heat build up then
causes detonation to occur which then melts the piston and swells the
piston skirt. This problem can be rectified if the lower coolant hose
and pipework from an E6 are fitted to your E4.
How do I get one, and how much will it cost?

it certainly wont be the hose itself that fixes the problem, but will more than likely be that the e6 uses a different thermostat housing and the associated pipework is slightly different.

i don't know if this will rectify the problem you have picked out though.
