hi guys,
thinking of getting my misses a saxo, but ive done a hpi check on it and its a cat d, how bad is this would you touch it its a x reg 1.1 desire with a vtr bodykit for2.5k what you think as i'm a bit unsure when it comes to cat claims on cars

Written-off vehicles

4. At present vehicles written-off by an insurer are subject to a voluntary Code of Practice agreed between the insurance industry and salvage dealers (the Code). Under the terms of the Code, vehicle salvage is classified in various categories, generally depending on the extent of damage. Categories A and B are generally so seriously damaged that they should never be returned to the road. Category C applies where the salvage is repairable but the repair costs exceed the pre-accident value. Category D salvage is repairable though the vehicle is still written-off by the insurer in order to minimise overheads during the repair period, for example.

It maybe of some help to you. The car does sound a touch expensive though.

cheers for that,
leonard been looking but new shape ones are more like 3.5/4ik anyway i aint getting now as she now wants a new kitchen instead and shes going to keep her fiesta and get it waxed :confused: this is the only reason she wanted a new car as the paint work has some scrathes and needs a good t-cut and wax :( itsw quite a nippy car 1.6 si zetec so i'm gonna get it done next week and get it valet should cost less than a ton to sort it.
