A friend of mine at work has had around half a dozen Vehicle registration documents through in the same name (not his) but all at his address. They are all fairly [email protected] cars and being in London it would seem a unlicensed mini cab operation is a likely candidate.

The guy has contacted the DVLA and now the police too. The police aren't all that interested as 'no offence has been committed' and the DVLA want him to write to them and send in all of the documents that he hasn't thrown (he chucked the first few away thinking it must have been a mistake). But they haven't actaully said what they will do when they get these letters.

The thing is he is now getting tax reminders through the door and if these cars are receiving parking tickets/speeding fines or congestion charge fines that go unpaid the baliffs are eventually going to be knocking on his door.

Has anyone heard of this sort of thing happening to someone they know?

get him to:
send them all with a covering letter
or
take them to his local DVLA office and explain the problem....
- think his one will be in Sidcup .....
check: www.dvla.gov.org

The ironic thing about this is that he can't even drive :crackup: and neither can his wife so they haven't got a clue about car tax and all that rubbish which is why they have cheucked the first two or three away.

If he can get himself over to Sidcup that might be the best way to sort it because the last letter he sent to the DVLA appears to have disappeared into the ether.

DVLA couldn't run a bath properly. If you do have a problem of any sort with them they expect you to sort it for them.

Recently it became apparent that they have left of some classes of entitlement off from licences they had processed. Their answer to the problem, unless you notice it straight away then just take yer test again for the missing class
