Car is over fueling and stalls when stopping and idling
i have a air/fuel ratio gauge in the car
and shows that the car is running way too rich
have had the spark plugs changed and still nothing what could this be

What car is it? Have you got any logging equipment? what afr's is it showing? also have you made any mods recently which may have caused this?

Well its a evo 4 gsr
i just picked the car up on saturday and was running fine all day but was a bit too hevvy on fuel the afr it just jumps to running very rich and then back down to lean on idle
ive just bought the car so not done anything

Is it a digital gauge? what's it fluctuating between?

it not a digital guage its just in bars
well its jumping from lean to rich and stays on rich for a few seconds and then back down to lean and at lights i have to keep it revved to 1kr rpm to keep the car on

yeah this is the engine mods
hks 272 inlet and exhaust cams (new gaskets when installed)
hks induction hardpipe
hks intercooler hardpipe kit
blitz dump valve
blitz sonic power induction kit
blitz nur spec catback exhaust system
blitz 3" downpipe
hks high flow catalyst
4 branch tubular stainless steel manifold (new gaskets and studs)
tme turbo TD05HRA-15GK2-10.5T and evo 7 actuator (new gaskets)
evo 8 mr intercooler
magnacore ht leads

I'm guessing the 'afr' gauge is wired into the standard lambda sensor?

....test the voltage on the standard lambda when the car is idling and see if its fluctuating as it should be.

....probably worth resetting the idle control valve also.

the previous owner said that it had been remapped
when the car is idling it wont idle for long itll just go off if a rev it itll stay on but while staying on itll kind of misfire

Was it an Ecutek Remap?
Did the seller give you any graphs,or tell you who mapped it?
Might be worth askin m8!

no the engine management light isnt on
the car wont stay on even when revving it if you put it into gear and move it itll move at a few mph and i would just switch off the car

no i dont have any graphs or any proof of a remap

You will probably no the car as the previous owner was a member here

I got my ex to do all that for me!!
I would be getting on the fone to whoever sold me the car,and ask whats up with it?
He should atleast be able to give you the name of the mapper/whomever tuned & maintained the car m8!
Unless it has been Geekmapped by himself!!!
I would defo give the guy a ring and ask!
What can hurt???

With a spec and list of mods like that, I would be expecting a stack of paperwork to support who fitted all parts,mapped car,and generally maintained it!
When you bought it , was it "sold as seen"?

I would personally get the car down to your local tuner, get it on the rollers,and get it plugged in!
Your tuners should be able to tell you what s wrong pretty quickly fella!:smthumbup

Sounds like the Lamda is not going to fluctuate much!!!!
Is well worth finding out, for peace of mind ,if anything!!!

The guy who i swapped my last car with for this evo 4 has been completely useless his phone isnt going throo at the moment and hasnt beet at all helpful it is a black evo 4 which was on pistonheads for 5k guys name was john pullin
well its in the garage right now and they are having problems fixing it the diagnostics machine isnt working on the car

I would check that all the hoses/vaccume pipes are on properly as stated in a previous post. Does sound like the lambda....what boost are you running out of interest?

Where abouts are you? could be someone local with the neccessary kit to hook it up and have a look for you pal :smthumbup

the car is running 1.0bar boost and i am in glasgow
the mechaninc just gave me a call
and said that he unplugged the afr gauge and the car ran fine
hes going to take it for a test drive and give me a call back to let me know how it goes ?
