To anybody who can help!
I have changed the cam belt on my EVO6 along with a new balance shaft belt.
The marks and belt tension were checked and checked and checked before building back up.
Now when i run the engine at high RPM when driving you can feel lots of vibrations coming from the engine, its just not as smooth as it should be! compared to before. Even when you rev the eninge when the car is stationary its not as smooth.
The timing is all definatly right!
Does the balance shaft turn 3 times as slow as the crank? because thats what it was doing when we were check it for timing marks.
We did not use genuine belts, could this maybe be the problem.

Classic balance shaft problem. Yes, the balance shaft turns three times as fast as the crank, but the timing is critical. There is only one time per crank rotation where the balance shaft is in the correct position, so simply lining up the marks and hoping gives you a 66% chance of being out.

Check out this guide on dsm.org which covers replacing the belts and alignment.

time up the belt, remove it, move the right hand 'balancer' pulley to the 12 o'clock position, if it tries to fall away from the timing mark (clockwise) it needs rotating by 360 degs, if it falls towards the timing mark its correct.

align all the marks, refit belt, etc......
