just a quick question about buying a car from ireland, well northern ireland, is there anything different you have to do than buying a car in england, i.e no extra import stuff/ registering, other than the v5, thanks alot, phil

It used to be that you had to send your tax disc to Coleraine (where DVLNI are based) and get a refund and then re-register and retax your car in England, but I think they recently linked the 2 databases so now you should only need to re-register it.

If the car is between 3 and 5 yrs old you will need to MOT it, Because cars in N.I dont need MOT'd till they are 5yrs old.:smthumbup

First MOT in N.Ireland is actually after 4 years and is a lot stricter than Mainland as they are Government run testing stations.

Knew it was more than 3yrs, Registered a BMW back in December and it had to be MOT'd, It was 3 1/2 yrs old. Just thought it was 5.

thats ok then as its a evo 5 i'm looking at so old enough, thanks for all your help, i best get buying now then:naughty:
