Hey Guys,

New here, just registered.

I'm in the lucky position of looking for a new car with a budget of about £25k. My current car is a Japanese import MR2 Turbo, which is very nice, very quick and lots of fun. I also have an Impreza Turbo 5dr as my sensible vehicle - oh, are you allowed to say Impreza in here?? ;)

However I'm now thinking that maybe an Evo would be a good choice to replace the MR2. I've been struggling for a long time to find something that equals the MR2 on performance (the boy in Tokyo that had it added lots of little enhancements). I've downloaded the very impressive buyers guide from the site, but am looking for some personal input too.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Adding....

I'm wondering if my budget will be better spent with a slightly older car and some dosh spent on extras.

Being completely new to the Evo world I'm looking for all the advice I can get.

Cheers

depends what body configuration most appeals to you
i.e the 4-6 or 7-9 shape;
whether you want to buy e.g. a later model from a dealer and get warranty etc or that aspect is not particularly important
+ if you've got an Imprezza as a daily driver
you might want to save your money and buy an e5 or 6
and perhaps spend a little on upgrades / ECuTek / whatever

there have also been/are .. a number of cars that are already modified in the 'for sale' section well within your budget, to save you the hassle of modifying

read the buyers guide....accessed on the MLR home page
and go and test drive a few different models

Thanks for the replies guys.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Bazza for his amazing buyers guide, spent some interesting bed time reading last night.

I think I will probably be going for an Evo VIII FQ 320 MR, because I definately want the extra performance and grin factor, but I don't want to have to fight with it too hard while commuting.

Any opinions on my choice?

I'm looking forward to a car that will actually go round a roundabout in the wet, unlike my little MR2 Turbo, which lets me know every now and then that I should'nt get complacent! :)

if buying an eight, i would look at 2nd hand..let some other muppet take the residual out for you as the 9 is coming. and you will still have a CCC warranty (for what its worth)

seriously look at the 8 in my link this is a far better and more usable car than the fq400 and half the price.

good luck..
