Pads for me. I don't really have the space for a wheel (at least not for a wheel for the console anyway), and unlike Andy I can feather the throttle just fine on the pad :D

Since I'm generally belting around at maximum speed I rarely have to use less than full steering lock as well, so I'm not sure the investment in a wheel would really be worth it.

PS DaveR, lift-off oversteer is generally a feature of cars that understeer under acceleration ;)

Am I going wrong in trying to drive it and preserve my tyres? ie, no squeal as im cornering. Or should I just wang it round going from lock to lock!? lol

What wheel is the weapon of choice?

After using an xbox pad for so long with the triggers for brake and throttle its hard switching back to two buttons. You cant trail brake easily, its not too easy to modulate the throttle either. (Maybe the pad is ****ed?!)

I sold my wheel as it was a bit too vague

Buttons? The default GT4 pad configuration has the left analog stick for steering and the right stick for acceleration (up) and braking (down). Much more finesse than buttons or triggers :D

Oh, and I spend most corners finessing the throttle because the tyres are always giving way. I'd say wang it round lock to lock and steer with the throttle. Works for me ;)

Only prob with the right analogue stick is that you cant brake while still on the power!

Ill give it a try tonight. :)
