As its very late, i'm awake & bored (long story) I thought i'd give my 2p's worth on Evo brakes...

My experiences are with the standard Brembo set-up mainly. Everone slates the OEM setup...ive never had a problem?!?
My car is a 'road' car & the discs/pads stand up fine. So I thought i'd take it to Cadwell...apart from fade after half a dozen laps, they never 'juddered' & the pads hardly wore at all!?!

I have before used EBC Redstuff on my old Evo. They squeeled like hell & 'juddered' like U wouldnt know! Really need heating up to work. Although they've changed the compound again now...
EBC are a world reknown company for friction products. There Greenstuff pads have won many awards & their Yellowstuff pads I have heard nothing bad about. In motorcycling they produce some of the best pads U can get & many racers use them...

Brembo are also extremely huge in the braking world, yet people jump to put blame on the standard Evo calipers & just 'bin' them for AP's!?! AP's produce quality calipers/discs but IMO really are an unnecessary waste of money for 9/10 of the people who buy them!

I have a set of EBC (bradi) discs & Ferrodo DS2500 pads to go on next.

The learning never stops...

morning :D

i agree, i think the standard set up is fine, for most average joe's usage that is - i use pagid blues and bradi discs, brake cooling ducts and i get fantastic braking even when cold, no judder

but mike, i cant seriously believe you would use EBC!
i had red stuff on my first evo when i bought it, they were utter crap :blah: i have never seen anyone have anything good to say about them, they are fine on smaller cars but a big fatty like an evo, seems to be just too heavy for them to cope

Hey porn star! All your answers and more are in the thread titled 'my brakes are appalling'.

Trust me you don't want to believe everything you hear! The fact that many teams might be sponsored by a brake manufacturer doesn't mean they actually use that product. In motorsport NO ONE uses EBC above club level unless they have a fetish for hospitals!

The main brake suppliers above club level motorsport are Brembo/AP/Performance Friction/Alcon for hardware, Performance Friction/Pagid/Ferodo(tends not to be used by serious teams) and some you won't have heard of for friction material. Take your choice...

As said previously, there is nothing wrong with the Brembo calipers (Brembo is king when it comes to brakes in general and does own AP, so they both share a large enough market not to have to worry about bonus's ;) ). I went with something that was a bit different and seemed to give the best technical solution, the Performance Friction 2-piece disc and pads with the standard caliper...I'll never complain again about Evo brakes!
