Hello everyone

I recently picked up my yellow 260 and checked it over and was happy. I came to wash it on Wednesday and noticed a lump in the paint on the roof. I've taken a closer look and the paint is bubbling away from the roof! I've been to the dealer who just want to get it sprayed and that's, that. The spray shop said it looks like a dent has been repaired at one point! Have I even bought a new car?

What would you do?

I work next door to a bodyshop that has the local contracts for pretty much all the major dealerships including BMW, Audi, Aston Martin etc

You'd be amazed at how many "brand new" cars are dropped off for repairs.......the customers I'm sure are totally un aware. It's not uncommon for many cars to pick up a few dings here and there from the time it leaves the factory to the time you come to collect it.

thanks for the reply.

Should i just have the roof sprayed and be happy? I feel they should at least compensate me in some way for wsted time and petrol. Plus my car wasn't new as such.

At the very least you want the car repairing to "as new" with some freebies to make up for the inconveniance. Ralliart mats/door sills/free oil change etc all spring to mind. If you achieve all 3 I'll be very impressed

Just make sure your 100% happy with the repairs before accepting it back.

I had to get my bonnet re-sprayed.The "protective" plastic wrap that was on the car whilst being transported to the dealer lifted several shades of colour off a foot long strip on the bonnet.
I didnt notice til i got it home but to be fair it was resprayed by them and its spot on now.

this paint problem on new cars happened before on here.

im sure the outcome was that they can repair/paint so many panels before having to declare anything or reduce prices.

no i'm not a japfest, i left it when i was thinking about changing cars.

It looks like a lot of cars have damage before the "new" owner gets them. It's just a shame i'll lose my car for x days and have to drive a 1.0L Micra around :D
