I am looking at swapping my Evo for Fiat Coupe 20vt

Now the bloke lives in Pontefract near Leeds and has just emailled me to say can we do the swap tonight as he is going away to Scotland. By the time we get halfway it will be about 10pm. I have obvious concerns about swapping the cars in the dark but does this sound fishy to you lot??

Could he be legit?? or would you just walk away?

We had arranged to meet on Sunday but now he wants to bring it forward!!

Sounds like it could be a bit dodgy to me. But could also be totally legit.

Potentially walking into trouble. The guy could be looking at 'test driving' your car with the intention of robbing you. Not common but it does happen. Especially when he stands to get an Evo. And night time is a good time to do it. Be selective about where you meet him and think about taking a friend.

That said, he could be totally genuine.

Be carefull mate do you have a full HPI on the car in advance? you really should never buy from anywhere other than the registered address mate.
Do you have the address, home telephone.get director enqiurys to confirm the number at the address will all help verify the guy a little.

I would meet on your own conditions where you feel comfortable. You have a great car dont take any chances mate. It could end in

I've emailed him and told him there aint no way I am going to meet him in the dark and swap cars.

I am willing to go down there on Sunday with two of my mates. Ones my cousin who's fairly handy and the other is Louisville Slugger baseball bat.

I have also told him why and explained I don't 100% trust him and half expect to turn up at the meeting place and find four big blokes waiting to take my car off my hands!!!

He has also asked for my mobile number at the end of every email "so we can keep in touch"

It just don't feel right!

seems common practice nowdays, last 3 vehicles I've sold i've been thinking "guy seems a bit keen, wonder whats going on? but they've all turned out sweet, no problems.
