If you get one make sure you have a large overdraft/available credit on card because once you start with the modding bug you will want more...and more... and more

If you want some good advice. (I should of looked into buying one like you have before I went and made an idiot of myself, which is where I excell tbh)
1. DO NOT get rid of your 172 for an EVO - BIG Mistake.
2. Don't listen to the majority of opinionated people on here.
3. Just don't bother unless you have got endless cash to burn eg servicing, petrol etc.
4. You won't see a massive increase in performance you expect if you go for a 260.
5. Don't say I told you so....
Take advice from someone who made the change from a 260 to a 172.

Admittedly it does help if you earn more than £20 quid per week unlike 'Paperboy' above.
I still don't know what all the fuss is about, Evo's are not that expensive unless you have taken out a big loan to pay for the car on top like the guy above did and didnt take into account the slightly higher than normal running costs.
TBH it wasn't any more expensive than the boggo standard audi quattro I used to have. If you wanna see expensive try running a 3.2DID Mitsubishi Shogun - now thats expensive!
