I am a newbie. I have an Evo VIII and would like to improve the ride on rough roads. Does anyone know if the MR has the same suspension but just different shocks? Can the Bilsteins be put on the VIII with no other mods? Would the Bilsteins be worth the trouble/money?

I managed to get a set of MR Billies secondhand at a very good price for my 7. direct swap no mods needed. I really couldn't tell the difference between the billies and the standard Kayaba? stuff.

If your car is fitted with A046 tyres they are pretty much the cause of the very harsh ride.

Changed the tyres on my 7 and the harsh ride dissappeared. Some purists say that the A046 is the only tyre to use for reasons of grip, turn in etc. But if I want to go on the track a set of slicks go on and I really can't be doing with a roller skate ride on the road.

What tyres did you switch to? Was the handling noticeably worse?

I changed mine to the MR set up, no mods straight swap
The main difference between the two set ups is that the car drives alot smoother at low/high speed, no crashing on the billies compared to the std VIII shocks.
Worth the money IF you can pay the right money

I'm now on Hankook Sports K104. About £80 a tyre fitted and balanced.

The turn in is not as sharp compared to A046 and ultimately the grip is not as good but the ride is loads better.

Like I said for trackday grip I use slicks or moulded slicks (road legal)
