i think i am giong to decat my VIII FQ300.
dealer will do the work and i will supply the parts.
what do i need to get and from where and approx cost?

Just get youself a Magnex cat bypass kit from one of the traders on here. Should cost you about £55-60 delivered.

i see i can get a standard Cat bypass System for 50.
but also for 180 i can see it mentions the down pipe.
what beneift does the more expensive one have?
more hassle to fit as well?

The magnex downpipe is a 3" pipe, so there should be a bit more power and better response to be had with the larger pipe.

It's reletively easy to swap a downpipe. You just might need spacers for strut braces.

Magnex D/P is swaged in to clear the tie bars, had to put an extra couple of washers as spacers to give good clearance tho', well worth doing the D/P as well in my experience. Easy to fit, done it at home with the offside wheels up on a high kerb, and slid underneath. Easier with a ramp tho'

Yes, it is, if you're reasonably used to using spanners
