The MLR has just received the following letter from Darren Hughes at CCC (Colt Car Company) regarding the outstanding AYC Recall issue, which many of you have been waiting so patiently for. It looks as if the wait will soon be over as they appear to have finally received the go-ahead from Japan.


Official AYC Recall Statement from Mitsubishi Motors in the UK

We appreciate that many owners of the Mitsubishi Evo IV and V may have had cause for concern regarding the announcement of a recall concerning the Active Yaw Control (AYC) system, which may affect their vehicles. Mitsubishi Motors Japan announced this recall in August 2000 and Mitsubishi Motors in the UK (The Colt Car Company Ltd) decided to assist owners in implementing the recall, even though the EVO IV and amp; V were not officially imported to the UK.

Unfortunately, because we were not the original importer, it has taken time to gain access to the necessary parts and technical information as well as ownership details. In addition, we have had to wait for Mitsubishi Motors Japan to approve our assistance and confirm their support for the recall to take place.

We are pleased to inform you that we have now received the modified AYC parts from Japan and have also obtained some customer details from the DVLA as well as those received directly through our Customer Services Department. It is now possible to proceed with the AYC recall for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV and V.

Each known customer will be contacted by letter over the next 2-3 weeks and customers will be asked to contact their local Mitsubishi Motors dealership.
Please note that if your vehicle was originally supplied by Ralliart UK/Co-Ordsport you should go directly to them for the recall work to be completed.
