I've just rebuilt and serviced my AYC/ACD pump in my Evo X. I had the usual failure Service required light come on, and I've fixed it now.

I had to replace parts of the pump and rebuild the motor with a new brush.

I'm thinking of starting a little business rebuilding pumps. With Mitsi charging £2000 for a new pump plus £500 to fit it I figured I could turn a little profit and still be in for a quarter of the price.

What I'd be offering is a pump rebuild and motor check, cleaning up any rust and painting and properly sealing the pump housing so no more water gets in there.

Anyone interested? Is it worth me pursuing this?

You know there are a few traders here offering that already?

And if you did, and advertised on here you'd need to become a trader, thats at least £75pm i think.

Then you'd need to be looking at the warranty you would offer.

Then you have the fact that you've so far only done a newish pump. What happens when you try a 10 year old pump and all the bolts are siezed and snap? Are you setup to deal with that?

Are you a professional mechanic or enthusiastic amateur?

Hmmz maybe I didn't search hard enough then cos all I found was a place in America and had to have parts shipped over.

I guess 12 months warranty on parts.

To answer your question; yes I am setup to deal with broken bolts etc, no I'm not a professional but I have been rebuilding engines and cars for about 17 years.
