AVA RR Day Pics

Managed to get a few (not all) of the cars at the Scots MLR RR day @ AVA. If anyone want a high resolution image (2MB) of their car drop me a pm ;)

Could the 400 reults be down to the chosen gear- as I assume they will have run all cars in 3rd :confused:

Totally different ratios given the 6 gears on the 400 ;)

the guys reckon it was due to the exhaust restricting the flow.

they ran the 8's in fourth due to the shorter gear ratio.

but even the 260 was quite an accurate result (not sure if it has same g/box) if it has then it cant have been down to that.

damd VI, did say that there wasnt much difference between it and mine coming away from stirling services. although it was only 2 gears and then slow again. but surely 60bhp should be a considerable difference.

The 260 is a 5 speed mate.

You would have thought the 400 would have a substancial gain on most of the stage 1/2 cars :confused:

Could someone explain why 316atw is a 'bad result' . Allowing for transmission losses , that works out @ more than 405 atf doesn't it ?

AVA dont give flywheel figures. if you ask them though they will tell you to add approx 40-45bhp to the wheel figures to get a flywheel figure.

james think of this.

using the 24% working.

316bhp works out at 415atf

now thats a loss of 99bhp, as thats a frictional loss it goes to heat and noise. now when in their RR room you can stand without being deafened so it cant be a large noise loss, therefore its a heat loss.

1 horsepower is equal to 0.745 KILOwatts. so if your 99bhp is in heat then thats 73KILOwatt fires. now if that loss was true then 73 kilowatts of heat would cause your G/box oil to bubble and catch fire and any lubrication in C.V. joints would do the same.

energy in any form must be transfered into something it cannot just dissapear.

AVA dont use inertia rollers so these cant really be compared to others as inertia rollers use a coast down to work out ''drag'' which gives you a loss.

Looked a good day guys, I ended up at the jap day at crail for a couple of hours, not too bad.

Still waiting on my boost controller to come then car will be going to AVA and getting done. Just got my new AP 6 pot brakes fitted today so i can stop the dam thing, lol

Hope to be at the next meet :D
